8 Octubre 2007_________________LATEST: British rockers BLUR have officially ruled out plans for a reunion - despite enjoying a lunch date earlier this month (Oct07). Bassist Alex James recently lifted fans' hopes for a reunion after admitting all four bandmembers - including guitarist Graham Coxon, who quit in 2002 - were meeting to discuss a possible comeback. But in an official statement, James, Coxon, Dave Rowntree and frontman Damon Albarn denied they are to release any new material in the near future, saying: "In light of recent press speculation, blur.co.uk would like to confirm that Alex, Damon, Dave and Graham met for an enjoyable lunch on Monday, but there are currently no other music plans for Blur."
5 Octubre 2007__________BLUR are one step closer to reforming after bassist ALEX JAMES and drummer DAVE ROWNTREE met for lunch to discuss plans for a reunion While James admits the band - including guitarist Graham Coxon, who quit in 2002 - are raring to go, he cautions that the four-piece may not be releasing an album of new material any time soon. Writing on his blog for U.K. newspaper The Independent, James says, "Rowntree was on good form. We looked forward to the four members of Blur sitting round a table for lunch for the first time in a long time." He adds, "Rumours of another Blur record are greatly exaggerated. But that lunch happened. It was just lunch - there are no immediate plans to go into the studio."
2 Octubre 2007______________BLUR singer DAMON ALBARN has failed to pass his driving theory test - because he has trouble with the multiple choice answers. The 39-year-old rocker has already taken the written test five times without success. He says, "I've got a big problem with some of the choices. I disagree with them. If you see someone by the side of the road who looks ill, what do you do? "I might do something entirely different to what they say. But that doesn't mean it's wrong! I'm a rubbish driver anyway."
28 Septiembre 2007__________________OASIS rocker LIAM GALLAGHER has officially ended his band's long feud with rock rivals BLUR. The two groups fell out in the early 1990s when their singles and albums battled it out in the U.K. charts. Members of both bands have carried out the rift through the pages of national newspapers, taking every opportunity to attack each other. But Gallagher insists the row is a thing of the past - and even admits a respect for his one time nemesis. He tells Mojo, "I don't mind Blur. I'm over it. It was a laugh man, that's what you do when you're young. "When I see Damon Albarn, I buzz off him. If I was still caught up in it now I'd be a right wanker."

17 Septiempre 2007_______________British band BLUR will only reunite if frontman DAMON ALBARN can scale down his hectic schedule, according to his former bandmate GRAHAM COXON. The guitarist agreed to reunite with his former bandmates after leaving Blur in 2002 and insists he is "raring to record" a album with the band. But Coxon claims Albarn's work commitments may pose a threat to the reunion. He says, "Dave (Rowntree), Alex (James) and I are all talking. I talk to Alex the most. But there's four individuals in the band. "We're all really busy, but there's definitely a week (when we're going to record).
10 Septiembre 2007_______ BLUR are reuniting with guitarist GRAHAM COXON next month (Oct07), five years after the guitarist left the band. Coxon parted on bad terms with the group in 2002, while Blur were recording the album Think Tank. Other bandmembers have since occupied themselves with solo projects, including frontman Damon Albarn's Gorillaz - but a reunion with Coxon has been rumoured. Now bass player Alex James has confirmed he, Albarn, Coxon and drummer Dave Rowntree are planning to record a new album in October. He says, "It's going to happen soon. It's looking promising. It's important for us emotionally not to leave Blur as an unfinished thing. It could be good musically as well. "I texted Graham this morning and got one back. I saw Damon (Albarn) about a month ago and I spoke to Dave yesterday. We're all talking." He adds of his plans for the new album, "Good guitars would be good. But I mainly talk to Graham about mandolins and prog music."
22 Agosto 2007___________BLUR drummer DAVE ROWNTREE has admitted he battled an addiction to cocaine at the height of the band's fame in the 1990s. Rowntree, 43, revealed his former addiction in an article urging the U.K. government to review their anti-drugs policy in British newspaper The Guardian. He writes, "Certainly when I first discovered alcohol, and later cocaine, the effect was almost religious in its intensity, and all my problems seemed to melt away. I didn't start using regularly until the '90s, but as my tolerance increased, I used more. "However, my experience of life when not on drink or drugs got progressively worse. The world became an increasingly hostile place, relationships got more difficult and an all-encompassing sense of dread and paranoia set in. Drink and drugs became progressively less effective in soothing those feelings. "The key point is that all the way along, I thought my behaviour was normal and it was the rest of the world that had gone mad. I had no idea my experience was different to anyone else's because I had nothing to measure it against. "I managed to get help before they destroyed my life, and these days I'm active in the recovery community."
14 Agosto 2007__________________Former BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON's alleged stalker has been cautioned by police. The Song 2 hitmaker's country house in Kent, England was trashed by crazed fan Sue Ellingham last month (Jul07) after she met Coxon at one of his gigs. She also began posting abusive messages on his website and reportedly turned up at singer's five-year-old daughter's London school. A police spokesperson says, "We cautioned a woman for harassment and criminal damage."
8 Agosto 2007_____________British singer KATE NASH is joining ex-BLUR star GRAHAM COXON by campaigning against a multi-million pound plan to redevelop a London market. The pop newcomer has announced a concert on Thursday (09Aug07) at a currently undisclosed venue to raise funds for the Save Camden Stables Market campaign. Nash's move follows Coxon's comments earlier this week (begs06Aug07) that a redevelopment means the market is destined to become "a mediocre, modernist piece of crap". He added, "This is a pathetic attempt at modernisation, What's going to be in it? More Starbucks coffee houses and Carphone Warehouses? "It should be full of tailors, shoemakers, cheesemakers and independent shops, but of course they are not going to do that."
7 Agosto 2007______________Former BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON is following in the footsteps of his ex-bandmate DAVE ROWNTREE by taking on his local council. 2 Agosto 2007__________________BLUR bassist ALEX JAMES has criticised fellow Brit rockers OASIS for their "tragic" and unfashionable hair styles. The Country House star favours a more cropped cut, while the Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher are famed for their longer, unkempt styles. He says, "I'd never have a haircut like Liam Gallagher. "He's starting to look a bit like (former English soccer ace) Kevin Keegan and I'd never have any Eighties cut. It was truly a tragic time for hair."

It was the first encounter I'd had with a famous person, too." BLUR star ALEX JAMES didn't make a good impression on the IRON MAIDEN frontman when they met.
13 Julio 2007______________BLUR bassist ALEX JAMES has been forced to turn tee-total because alcohol tempts him back onto drugs. The rocker once famously quipped he was "the second drunkest member of the drunkest band in Britain" and, despite efforts to stay sober since starting a young family with wife Claire Neate, he confesses his last drink almost led to a cocaine binge. He says, "I have to be so careful. I had a big drink 18 months ago, and I was straight on the phone trying to get some coke - and it reminded me of what I used to be like. "So I haven't had a drink or taken drugs since."
12 Julio 2007__________________________BLUR star ALEX JAMES is warning wannabe rock stars to resist their female fans' advances, because the sex soon "gets boring". The bassist is currently happily married with three children, but estimates he slept with around 500 different women when his band were at the peak of their popularity in the 1990s. Despite the initial thrill however, James is adamant the lothario lifestyle isn't worth it. He says, "I think the more people you have sex with, the worse it tends to get. The magic wears off a bit. "It's like drugs; the more you take, the less exciting it becomes. If anything is constantly freely available then it gets boring."
12 Julio 2007________________Actor JOHNNY DEPP has been branded an "arsehole" after trying to start a fight with BLUR bassist ALEX JAMES. The rocker reveals he found it difficult to interact with other celebrities when his band was propelled to fame in the 1990s - and stars like Depp did little to help the situation. He recalls, "I met (Depp) in Soho House, and he was an arsehole. He wanted to talk to the girl I was with, and he poured a pint of Guinness over me. Very weird. "I think he wanted me to (hit him). But I just went home with the girl instead, which would have hurt him more."
12 Julio 2007______________________BLUR star ALEX JAMES has cast doubt on the chances of the British band reforming, insisting it could be a "deluded" idea. The group, who had hits in the 1990s with Parklife and Song 2, have never officially split but haven't made an album since 2003's Think Tank, when guitarist Graham Coxon quit. But while drummer Dave Rowntree insists they are all heading back to the studio in October (07), bassist James isn't convinced it will work. He says, "I think about Blur, that there is a chance we can get back together and make something really brilliant, but then I'm probably deluded as well. I think with Blur it was never really quite resolved emotionally, with Graham leaving before the last album. "I think it would be good to get back together and sort things. I think we all needed to add a paragraph to our careers saying that we all really needed to stand on our own two feet and not need the band any more before we could do anything."
11 Julio 2007_________________________BLUR rocker ALEX JAMES was stunned when former lover COURTNEY LOVE suggested they have a threesome with a prostitute. The bassist and Love had a brief fling at the height of Blur's fame in the 1990s and James admits he was unable to handle the notorious rock chick. He says, "She's an amazing woman, very, very intelligent and a really fun gossip. And wild in bed... I mean she wanted to get a prostitute in to join us one night. "And I was like, 'Woaaaahhh, wait a second.' I had my hands full with her as it was."
11 Julio 2007_______________BLUR star ALEX JAMES is disgusted by veteran rockers like SIR MICK JAGGER, who still party as hard as a twentysomething. The Blur bassist is happy he quit living the life of a rock star and prefers the peace and quiet of his farm in Oxfordshire, England. He says, "You can only be a rock star really when you're young. It's sort of grotesque when you think of Mick Jagger still doing what he does - there's something slightly wrong. "But on the other hand, it's such a hard thing to let go."
10 Julio 2007_________________Former BLUR bassist ALEX JAMES doesn't begrudge rock rivals OASIS their longevity - he enjoyed better sex as an underdog. The British bands shared a bitter rivalry during the 1990s, but as Blur's popularity started to wane in the charts James reaped other unexpected benefits in the bedroom. He says, "It was fine while we were winning, but suddenly Oasis were top dogs. And that was horrible. "Though the s**gging got better, oddly, so it wasn't all bad." In April (07) James revealed Blur are re-emerging from a lengthy hiatus for a new album with Graham Coxon, who quit the group in 2002.
5 Julio 2007_______________PAUL WELLER and former BLUR guitarist GRAHAM COXON have enlisted the help of ex-STONE ROSES bassist MANI and OASIS drummer ZAK STARKEY to perform tracks from their new special edition single on a British TV chat show. The supergroup will play on FRIDAY NIGHT WITH JONATHAN ROSS later this week (06Jul07).
28 Junio 2007_______________Former BLUR star DAMON ALBARN is so terrified by the debut performance of his self-penned opera, he's been having nightmares about the opening night. The singer, whose opera Monkey: A Journey To The West premieres in Manchester, England on Thursday (28Jun07), is worried the show will be a disaster. And collaborator and Gorillaz bandmate Jamie Hewlett admits his pal is suffering from bad dreams about the opera's first night. He says, "Damon's been having a nightmare about the premiere, where he comes on stage and stops the whole thing in its tracks and tells everyone to go home."
28 Junio 2007____________Former BLUR star ALEX JAMES wishes he had penned OASIS hit WONDERWALL - and has branded the track the band's "finest moment". The bassist, whose band were the Manchester group's musical enemies in the 1990s, also praised frontman Liam Gallagher's vocal skills. He says, "I thought it was a really good song. Wish I'd written it. "He's got a great voice Liam and I think that's their finest moment."
7 Junio 2007____________________LATEST: KAISER CHIEFS' frontman RICKY WILSON has hit back at DAMON ALBARN after the BLUR frontman called their new album "empty". Albarn compared the Kaiser Chiefs new album Yours Truly Angry Mob to Blur's much maligned record, 1995's The Great Escape. Referring to the Ruby hitmakers release, he said, "The Kaiser Chiefs' new record sounds a bit like The Great Escape in that it sounds a bit empty. Sometimes records are like that if you try too hard to repeat your success." However, Wilson has hit back at his former pop pal. He says, "I don't give a s**t what Damon says. It's one man and his opinion. "Of course we tried hard - it was our second album. He can say what he likes."
6 Junio 2007________________LATEST: British guitar band BLUR have confirmed reports they are heading back to the studio, but are making no firm decisions on recording a new album. The famed group, who had hits in the 1990s with Parklife and Song 2, have never officially split but haven't made an album since 2003's Think Tank. However, drummer Dave Rowntree admits they are heading back to the studio in October (07) to see if they can reclaim their musical magic. He says, "We will spend one week recording and see what happens. We're dipping our toes in the water. We have not made any decision but we'll see how we feel." Rowntree is cautiously optimistic though, as it's a strategy that has proved successful in the past. He adds, "That tends to be the way albums start. That's how the last one started. We get together and either we say 'it's not the right time' or we say 'brilliant.' We don't want to prejudge the issue right now."

The famed band, who had hits in the 90s with Parklife and Song 2, have never officially split but haven't made an album since 2003s Think Tank. Frontman Damon Albarn has gone on to have musical success with two other bands Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad And The Queen, while guitarist Graham Coxon has gone solo, drummer Dave Rowntree moved into politics and bassist Alex James became a farmer. However, they have reportedly agreed to start working on a new album together. A source says, "They've all had lots on, with solo projects, cartoon bands, political campaigns and farming. "But by the end of the summer their plates with be clear. They'll go into the studio together in November."
29 Mayo 2007____________BLUR bassist ALEX JAMES enjoyed a brief drunken fling with rocker COURTNEY LOVE, after the pair met in a club several years ago. The British star reveals he had an unlikely encounter with Love when she came to his rescue having drunkenly collapsed in a U.S. club. He recalls, "She liked my shirt and gave me her phone number. I thought about it and called her. "I wondered what booze to take to her house and settled on a magnum of rose champagne. We drank it quickly and straight from the bottle."
28 Mayo 2007________________BLUR bassist ALEX JAMES spent more than GBP1million ($2 million) on champagne and cocaine during the height of his fame. The Parklife hitmaker claims he spent much of the 1990s indulging in drug fuelled orgies with fans and spending the band's earnings on drinks and drugs. He recalls, "One night in 1998 I was staying at the Copacabana Palace in Rio and the tour manager found me a huge bottle of champagne. There were lots of fans milling around the hotel. I decided to invite some of the prettiest up to my room. I calculated I'd need five for a bottle that big. "After ushering them in, I collapsed on the bed and let them cover me in champagne and kisses. I stopped having sex occasionally, but only so that I could have some more drugs."
4 Mayo 2007_____________LATEST: Former BLUR drummer DAVE ROWNTREE has lost his election attempt to become a local councillor for the Labour party in London's Westminster council. The Parklife hitmaker lost out to Conservative candidate Ian Rowley in yesterday's (03May07) UK local by-election vote. In a YouTube video, the musician says, "It's been really good fun though, and I have really enjoyed it and I have learned a lot."
3 Mayo 2007________________BLUR drummer DAVE ROWNTREE has legitimate reasons for "not shedding tears" over the war with Iraq after his girlfriend's mother was kidnapped by Saddam Hussein. The musician's girlfriend Michelle de Vries had to fly to the Middle East to release her mother Daphne Parish - the nurse who was arrested with journalist Farzad Bazoft by the Iraqi dictator in 1989. Bazoft was executed for confessing to be an Israeli agent and Parish was jailed for fifteen years, but released four months later following a plea for clemency from Zambian president Kenneth Kaunda. Rowntree tells London's Time Out magazine, "My take on the war was that Saddam was a horrendous murdering dictator and thought nothing of killing his own people and at that time he had to go. "I'm not a pacifist, I do believe that some things are worth fighting for, and dying for. I understand that that's easier to say, I'm not being the one who's asked to die, but Saddam was such an illegal ruthless b**tard I didn't shed any tears for it (the war)."
28 Abril 2007_________________British rockers band BLUR will finally decide this year (07) if they will reunite or split. The Parklife chart-toppers, who went focused on solo projects after guitarist Graham Coxon acrimoniously left the group in 2002, will reform to record some trial songs this August. Bassist Alex James says, "We're all heading into the studio together this summer. Graham's coming too. We're gonna see if we've still got it. If not, I think we'll just call it a day."
